The Secret To Staying Slim

The secret to staying slim could be as simple as slipping some tomatoes into your sandwich.

It is thought the fruit is rich in compounds that alter levels of appetite hormones and leave us feeling satisfied.

Snacking between meals is a common pitfall of dieters, and the humble tomato could provide them with a cheap and easy way to keep hunger at bay.

Reading University researchers investigated the benefits of enriching white bread with fruit and vegetables. A small group of women of normal weight, aged between 18 and 35, were offered cream cheese sandwiches made with white bread or bread enriched with carrots and tomatoes.

The researchers expected the extra fibre to make the carrot-bread lunches the most filling. Instead, the tomato bread was the most satisfying, a nutritional conference in France heard.

Researcher Dr Julie Lovegrove said: "They were given the sandwiches in a random order and we recorded how full they said they were. It was a small study, and we can't yet say what the crucial tomato ingredient is, but the results were statistically significant."

The appetite-suppressing ingredient could be lycopene, which gives tomatoes their red colour and has already been credited with warding off cancer and boosting fertility. Studies also show that tomatoes can help heart health.

Regular servings of tomato sauce and juice lower cholesterol levels in a matter of weeks. If that wasn't enough, tomato based dishes may protect against sunburn and keep skin looking healthy into old age.

Tomatoes are also rich in vitamin C, which helps the body heal wounds and absorb iron.

Official Price of Apple iphone 5 in India

Here is the latest news. The Apple iPhone 5 is expected to cost about Rs. 45,500.  There are two official distributors of the Apple gadgetsin India, namely Ingram Micro and Redington India.

It is Redington India that has come up with the prices of the Apple gadget. According to the distributing company, the basic version – the 16GB version will cost Rs. 45,500.  If you wish to go for higher capacity phones, the prices are Rs. 52,500 for the 32GB version and Rs. 59,500 for the 64GB version.

Both versions of the phone – the black and the white are likely to be up for sale this coming Friday. Saholic and Infibeam – the online retailers have begun to accept the preorders for the phones. To book your phone now, you will have to pay Rs. 5000 for the basic version.

Apple unveiled the iPhone 5 last Wednesday. Apple also lowered prices for its older models. iPhone 5 will be available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the UK from Friday, September 21, and customers can pre-order their iPhone 5 from Friday, September 14.

iPhone 5 will roll out worldwide to 22 more countries on September 28, including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

iPhone 5 will be available from the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com), Apple's retail stores, and through AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless and select Apple Authorized Resellers.

iPhone 5 comes in either white and silver or black and slate, and will be available in the US for a suggested retail price of $199 (US) for the 16GB model and $299 (US) for the 32GB model and $399 (US) for the 64GB model.

Specifications
Even though it's taller than the iPhone 4S, it's lighter. The bigger screen - 4 inches measured diagonally - creates room for another row of icons on the screen and lets widescreen movies fit better. Previous iPhone models carried 3.5-inch screens.

Even video and photos look more lush on the iPhone 5's bigger and better screen. The device is also speedier because of a more powerful processing chip and upgraded wireless technology that accelerates Web surfing.

Apple also has equipped the iPhone 5 with a superior sound system, courtesy of the new headphones that the company says it spent three years developing. The headphones, called "EarPods," are a vast improvement on the ear buds that Apple has been giving away with its devices for more than a decade. The new headphones actually stay in your ears and make it seem as if the sound is playing inside your head. The EarPods come free with the iPhone 5, and they sounded as good as $100 headphones sold by a variety of other companies.

The new iOS also offers a feature called "Passbook," where digital coupons, airline tickets and gift cards can be conveniently stored in one location. This, too, is going to be popular.

Delivery times rise on strong demand

Delivery times climbed quickly as Apple Inc started taking orders for the iPhone 5 on Friday, suggesting strong demand.

Apple began taking orders for the phone at 12 am Pacific time. It initially promised delivery by next Friday, when the new phone also goes on sale in stores. Four hours later, the expected delivery time had grown to two weeks, according to Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White.

By the afternoon, only Sprint was still promising delivery by next Friday. Verizon Wireless said delivery would take two weeks, and AT&T said it would take "14 to 21 business days."

Apple's stock rose $8.02, or 1.2 percent, to $691 in afternoon trading, after hitting an all-time high of $696.98 earlier in the day

Did you Know - Tomatoes--No Refrigeration Required

Did you know that one of the most popular vegetables in the United States is actually a fruit? Categorized by botanists as a fruit but eaten by consumers as a vegetable, tomatoes are appreciated for their combination of sweetness and acidity.

Any way you slice it, tomatoes are a delicious way to add nutrients to the diet. They are rich in vitamins A and C and are a good source of potassium. Tomatoes are also naturally low in sodium and contain no cholesterol.

Many people store tomatoes alongside other vegetables in their refrigerator's crisper drawer, but that's not the best place for them. Tomatoes should be stored at room temperature to maintain maximum flavor. Cool temperatures inside your refrigerator will stop the ripening process and begin to decrease the flavor and change the texture. Try storing your tomatoes in a decorative bowl on the counter.

Tomatoes and bananas help each other ripen quicker. Tomatoes and bananas emit a naturally occurring ripening gas called ethylene and when you store the two together they both ripen rapidly. If you need to ripen a tomato quickly, store it in a closed paper bag on the counter. The ethylene gas speeds up the ripening process when confined around the fruit in a closed bag.

Although tomatoes are native to Central and South America, they are now eaten throughout the world and are an ingredient in countless recipes. Many people consider tomatoes an essential part of their vegetable gardens each summer and they are available at your local market year-round.
